great little camcorder November 20, 2008 John C. Newton I purchased this camcorder for a vacation I just returned from. This is a GREAT camcorder. The learning curve is quick, very simple to use. Two options of recording video, either on a memory card, or via mini-DVD. The option of being able to pop out the mini-dvd and putting it into any DVD player is awesome. No computer necessary. br / br /I had purchased 20 Memorex miniDVD+RW hoping/thinking they would work (via some other reviews on here), but they didn't--after formatting, "unsupported format" and no go. If there is a way to make them work, I'd love for someone to tell me how. So I ran out to Target and bought 5 of the Sony mini's which worked, of course flawlessly--but at 3 times the cost. br / br /We just watched some playback of video and are floored by the absolutely perfect color of the outdoor shots. I'm really quite stunned at the quality. br / br /In any case, if you are like me a month ago and searching for a camcorder to buy, I say buy this one. I would have been pleased at twice the price I paid.
Good Camera for the price November 19, 2008 Todd Kerchner (Pottstown, PA United States) I have used the Sony DVD610 for several weeks. The hybrid feature is nice and I tend to store directly to memory stick and keep a few disks with me for over flow. The 4 gig pro-duo memory stick holds about an hours worth of video. The 40x zoom is nice but is difficult to hold steady shots when fully zoomed. The picture could be better. I film my sons hockey games from the stands, when zoomed out you cant read the players names on the jerseys. I probably should have gone with the DVD710 model to get the more clear picture. Over all I am satisfied with the camera. It functions well with no odd problems.
A Good Camcorder November 11, 2008 Danny R. Hildebrant I Bought this Camcorder for My Girlfrend's Daughter. They live in the Philippines and are very happy to have this Camcorder. One thing I would suggest is that You get a Memory Stick along with the extra DVDs and don't forget the Battery charger and a Carrying case. It is really to bad You are not told up front everything that is needed for this Camcorder, but then they may scare a lot of buyers off. I think this is a Good little Camcorder.

Great camcorder. Easy to use, small enough to carry in coat pocket vs bag, very light. No cons yet. I used reviews on Amazon to decide my purchase. Also Sony products are dependable.

The biggest drawback of this camcorder is that it uses Sony 3" Rewritable DVD+RW. And it has only 30 minutes storage capacity. So after every 30 minutes you need to change the DVR. Now who will use a camcorder with just 30 minutes of one time recording capacity? These are the days of hard drive based camcorders where most competitors use a 40/60 GB hard drive which gives around 1000+ minutes of video. Unfortunately Sony decided to use them in their high end camcorders.
